[23:20] Robert A. Nevarez, former Police Chief and now Police De-Escalation Training Coordinator for the Western United States, pays tribute to his father, Prudencio Carrera Nevarez. While a courageous man in many ways, the fear of public speaking led Prudencio to avoid formal speaking situations. Learning from his father's wisdom and struggles, Robert carried the torch in his own life and conquered the fear that his father had not been able to confront.

Robert faced his fear of public speaking head-on. He joined Toastmasters and grew his career in law enforcement. His professional success brought new challenges, including speaking to grieving families who lost loved ones to gang violence.

Today's episode is a follow-up to Robert's June 2022 article in the Toastmaster magazine, The Most Important Speech: Overcoming my fear of public speaking helped me tell my father's story.
