The Toastmasters Podcast with Greg Gazin
The Toastmasters Podcast is like a radio talk show featuring interviews with Toastmasters usually featured in the Toastmaster magazine. The purpose of the podcast is to amplify the magazine - to dig deeper or to put a voice to a face or written wordBut unlike a radio show, a podcast is on the Internet, and available, for free, to anyone in the world with an Internet connection, and a connected device capable of playing audio. 250+ episodes are at ToastmastersPodcast.comThe Toastmasters Podcast is co-produced by Toastmasters International and Archieboy Holdings, LLC, for our global audience of Toastmasters and those interested in public speaking and leadership.
[28:48] On today's episode we meet the 2020-2021 Toastmasters International President, Richard E. Peck, DTM, from Seymour, CT USA.
President Peck shares insights into his public speaking and leadership journey, including how he accidentally discovered the true meaning of leadership. He tells how popular motivational speaker Les Brown encouraged him to attend his first Toastmasters meeting. He also shares vulnerably about a humbling unsuccessful first run for a high-level leadership position, and how it ultimately made him a stronger leader.
President Peck updates us on the current state of Toastmasters amidst COVID-19, including the evolution of on-line and hybrid clubs and the opportunities they offer at this unique point in time. Finally, the President reflects on the first virtual International Convention, and offers insights for the year ahead.
